The Open Space Acupuncture Clinic

 

The Open Space Acupuncture Clinic is a multi-bed clinic established in 2009 by Chinese medicine practitioners Alex Owen and James Mutkin.

Mulit-bed acupuncture clinics involve a single room with multiple treatment couches divided by screens. The practitioners are able to see more than one patient at a time so treatment costs can be considerably reduced. Alex & James hope that this will mean that acupuncture can be opened up to more members of the community who may have found the price a prohibitive factor in the past. This style of clinic also helps to build a sense of community, while in the clinic patients see they are not alone with their conditions and a great sense of comradery and supportive atmosphere is often experienced.

This style of treatment not only has benefits for patients because to the amount of patients seen, it also lends itself very well to research & training. Alex & James worked together at Asante Academy of Chinese Medicine who provide clinical training for students at Middlesex University. So are experienced with training students and conducting research.

Alex & James have a great desire to give something back to the community and The Open Space Acupuncture Clinic is a great way to offer the benefits of acupuncture and Chinese medicine to the whole community.

The clinic is also a member of the Association of Community and Multibed Acupuncture Clinics and adheres to the British Acupuncture Council's strict codes of conduct and safe practice.
